Frostfern winced with ever step she and her ginger companion took. The tear in her claw was beginning to bleed again, and the she-cat could feel it seep slowly through her snow-white fur. When they entered the, she looked embarrassedly around the camp. Everyone would be surprised to see her slip up like this. Frostfern leaned against Redshadow as they came to a stop near the fresh-kill pile. She could feel his muscles ripple under his dark ginger pelt, and the feeling made her fur tingle. She looked up into his amber eyes as he turned and spoke to her, muffled by the mouse in his jaws.

"You need your paw looked at. Sit here, while i go and drop this on the fresh-kill pile."

Frostfern purred at his obvious concern. She could probably make it the medicine cat's clearing by herself. She just didn't want to end their little journey quite yet. The white she-cat blinked her sapphire eyes gratefully, and stared into his amber ones for a moment before he turned and bounded off toward the fresh-kill pile. Sighing wearily, Frostfern sunk down onto the floor of the clearing. She didn't pay any attention to the rest of the camp, just keeping her eyes on the large ginger frame of her friend. Friend? How long would that last at this rate? She let out another sigh, this one for a different reason, however; and stared unblinkingly after Redshadow.

As Redshadow turned back toward her, Frostfern looked away quickly, trying not to seem like she had stared at him the whole time. The white she-cat didn't want look like she was obsessed with the ginger warrior. She turned back to him as he neared her, a glimmer in her sapphire gaze. When she noticed the look of concer he was gving her injured claw she shuffled her paws embarrassedly. Frostfern was a little surprised at how anxious the big tom was about her well-being. Her breathe caught in her throat as he leaned down to examine her injury, adn the flustered she-cat shivered as her companions whiskers brushed against the white hair of her leg. She stuggled to control herself as Redshadow mewed,

"Does it still hurt much?"

Frostfern managed to get her frozen lungs working again, and she opened her mouth to reply. She never got to say a word, however, as Redshadow rasped his tongue gently over her bloodstained paw. Her heart skipped a beat, and her whole body froze. She new the ginger tom was only trying to help, but this contact was a little too much for Frostfern to handle. Her pelt was hot with embarrassment, and she felt like her fur was going to burst into flame. She tried to speak, but the white she-cat tripped over her own words.

"Er, R-Redshadow. You d-don't have to do that. I can clean it m-myself."

"Er, R-Redshadow. You d-don't have to do that. I can clean it m-myself."

'Why was she stuttering?' He asked himself. He quickly stopped and stood up straight and looked at Frostfern, his ears perked forward. He tilted his head to one side as he studied the look on her face, she didn't really know what it was. He just said, "Oh, well okay." He twitched his ears and said down onto his haunches, he ran his tongue over his paw and rubbed them over his ears. He was a bit obsessed with keeping his bright ginger pelt clean...

He noticed Miracleheart sitting nearby. He stood and nodded to her and meowed, "Hey Miracleheart, how was hunting?" He decided that, since Frostfern said she could, she could take care of her paw herself. But he still had a tingle of worry beneath his fur. He didn't know he cared so much for this white she-cat, but he decided that it was because she was a clan mate, and all warriors should look out for their Clanmates.

Frostfern breathed a sigh of relief as Redshadow ceased his treatment of her injured paw. The flustered she-cat was glad he had listened to her plea, she didn't think her heart could have taken any more; but at the same time she was a bit disappointed that their closeness had been interrupted. What was going on? Why did she feel so confused like this. When Redshadow looked up at her, she saw the same warm gleam of concern in his amber gaze. Was it possible that this tom cared for her?

Frostfern almost wailed in dismay as his sweet amber gaze flicked way from her. Struggling to compose herself, the white she-cat realized who he was looking at, and her fur instinctively began to bristle. Miracleheart, another clan she-cat, was walking toward them, her black form moving across the clearing. Frostfern slid a few mouse-lengths closer to her ginger companion.

"Prey is running well this time of year. I suppose we'll have to stock up though, leaf-bare is on it's way..."

Frostfern narrowed her eyes, forcing her fur to lay flat at the black she-cat's friendly conversation making. Trying not to lash out at her clanmate, the white she-cat tried to speak in a cool voice. "Yes. It seems we all need to hunt a little more for our clan." She spoke a little too dryly, glancing down at Miracleheart's single squirrel.
