♥ Adder of bloodclan
ADDER DID NOT LIKE HUMANS. He liked the park, with its green and luscious beauty, but the price that came with visiting the park in daylight was too high- the great beasts tromped about as if they owned the place, riding strange two-wheeled contraptions, throwing strange flat-round things (the human equivalent of a moss-ball, he had to imagine,) and sometimes even bringing their dogs, which were not always leashed. While the park offered a beautiful paradise in the center of the city, that also meant that it attracted every creature to it. It was busier than usual today- Adder was sure that it was a week-day (one of the days when the park was usually less busy), but it seemed that the humans had some deviation in their schedule, because the usually quiet place was filled with the tall, bipedal beasts, more so than even the usual busy day.
THERE WERE HUMANS using strange objects to hit a small feathered thing over a net, humans on mats on the grass eating things out of baskets, humans with sticks and string sitting by the lake, humans throwing balls for dogs, small humans running around and screeching at one another. They were everywhere. Adder felt a shiver go up his spine and felt regret that he had brought Juno here on his first day. The apprentice was barely more than a kit and he couldn’t see well and if there was a dog or something…
HE LOOKED BETWEEN HIS PAWS to see that he had made a mess of the dandelion leaves below him as he allowed anxiety to clutch him. He looked down at the strips of leaf that he had shredded and the green stain that they had left on his paws, each strip a representation of another anxious thought. He cleared his throat and stepped on the leaf to hide it from view, though he was sure that unless Juno was really paying no attention at all, he had likely seen the nervous habit and its result- he would have to go to the water to clean his paws properly, there was so much green on them. The destroyed leaf squished beneath his paw, likely adding more green to the bottom of his foot.
“HUMANS.” HE HISSED, keeping his body close to the ground. He eyed them. He had planned to walk Juno through the heart of the park so that he could see the pond up close and maybe grab a couple herbs for Tinsel (always smart to be on her good side), but thought better of it now that he saw the crowds. “A different day, perhaps. It’s too crowded, today- an unusual deviation from the norm. We wouldn’t want to catch their attention-”
HIS EARS PRICKED at the sound of squeals coming closer, and he looked up to see two human kits running towards them with excitement. He arched his back, bared his teeth, and hissed, looking as threatening as possible. He was NOT about to let his apprentice be kidnapped by humans on their first day out. “Juno! Run! Go hide in the bushes by the gate, they are too thick for the kits to get into!” He had to give the younger cat a head-start, for he knew that once he ran it would be difficult for him to slow down for fear that they might be caught. He turned to the small humans, snarling.
