NETTLEPAW Hear me once more, and show me your smile. This time, for sure, I’ll see the truth hidden inside your tears. But I know you're gone. So I will go on, howling and HOLLOW. TAG Minteh Freshness WORDS 525 count NOTES you can add in bracken whenever <3 i'll post with flicker prob later or tuesday. <3 | Though the cold of winter was gone and the spring sun was beating down, keeping the forest at an even seventy-five degrees, Nettlepaw felt a chill in the air. He knew what it meant, had gotten up and made his way through the hole he always took when he didn't want anyone to follow him. Knew that the white cat with stars in his fur would be at the end of the bitter cold. This cat would ask him to follow, without so much as a word as to what or why he was meant to do this. He didn't dare be disrespectful to a StarClan cat, they were dead after all. And just when he thought he might find all the answers, might actually have a chance of learning about this tomcat ... Something or someone would interrupt them and the StarClan cat would vanish. This wouldn't be so stressful to him had the StarClan cat actually said something to him. Like ... his Clan, or his position in said Clan, or even his name. Any of those three and he would be able to get somewhere with his constant pondering thoughts, thoughts that kept him awake at night almost as much as his thoughts for Stumblepaw did. Simply because - of all the cats in the forest that this one could have chosen - why did he choose Nettlepaw? Why him? Why not Foxpaw, or Goldenpaw, or Cloverpaw? Why him? He was no one special, no one of great importance. Just a child from a complicated family who tried to keep things running as smoothly as he could. But other than that? He had been so lost in his constant state of questioning that he hadn't noticed he'd been led to the ThunderPath a second time. The first, he'd been so hypnotized by the StarClan cat that he'd walked out into the ThunderPath without thought. If Sablepaw had not been there to stop him, he would have been killed instantly. This time he was aware of his surroundings, taking his eyes from the starry feline and displayed patience in waiting for the perfect time to cross into ShadowClan territory. And was he worried about that? No. Crossing into Clan territory was something he'd been breaking the rules of since he was a kit, believing that borders were unnatural to a point. He'd been quick, the other cat taking no rest in continuing the path the moment Nettlepaw hit the scent markers. A mixture of pine, mud, and marsh mixed together and invaded his senses, the same scent that he'd experienced on the tom before him. The farther in they got, the more the pines began to thicken and he had begun to lose his sense of direction. There was a sort of haze over the pine floor and when he turned to look behind him for the snapping noise that sounded, the StarClan tom had disappeared. This was no surprise. He slouched, narrowing his amber eyes at the place the feline had last been. If he was going to abandon Nettlepaw on ShadowClan territory, he could have at least done so somewhere other than the pine tree maze ... |
