[attr="class","twfptcontent"] [attr="class","twfpth1"]URCHIN'S NEAR-INCOMPREHENSIBLE DIALECT [attr="class","twfpth2"]leaves you reeling, but his relentless whirlwind energy carries you through his tour and deposits you - in one overwhelmed but intact piece - right next to the fireplace, where the warm, welcoming glow of the embers helps ground you. Urchin takes off again almost immediately, breezing out the door with another needs-subtitles announcement (something about a crab bucket, you think), and you welcome the ensuing quiet with relief. As you recover you look around you, taking in the welcoming cushions and blankets and cat trees, the long rafters of dark polished wood, the nautically themed decorations on the walls. The stunning expanse of the ocean stretches out beyond the windows, the tossing and turning of its surface a reflection of ever-changing, unknowable thoughts. Already you're getting used to the smack and slash of water against glass, though it's not as loud or frightening as you were expecting. Even with the dog snoring in the corner and the occasional clump upstairs from Urchin's human, you feel a sense of peace and safety wash over you like the tide. You can see why so many cats on your travels have recommended this place. It feels like home. It's hard to get used to the scent, though: rich and smokey, it's mixed through with wood and dog and fish and cat and seaweed and salt. You know you'll get used to it, but right now it's quite intense, and you make a note to check out the outdoor housing later. Being in the fresh forest-and-ocean air, especially for sleeping, might be nicer - and besides, you're still very impressed by the great architectural treehouse that you glimpsed on your way here. First, though, you'll have a bit of a rest, then talk to some of the other travelers around the room. The conversation you can hear is pleasant and amiable, and every cat you see seems more open and approachable than usual - though whether that's an inevitable side-effect of the cozy atmosphere, you can't say for certain. You've just settled down for a comfortable, lazy snooze, eyes half shut as you watch the gently hypnotic swell of the waves outside, when suddenly Urchin materializes next to you out of nowhere with a loud "Howdy!" "Tha' was about two fee' straigh' up, ah reckon," he says with a completely unrepentant grin once you've landed back on the floor, fur bristling in shock. "Nah bad, righ' 'bout average. Nice to see you've made yersself a' home. Ah'm jus' here to tell you tha' the catch of the day's arrived, crab 'n fish 'n whatnot jus' ousside if ya wants to help yersself, an' of course ah gotta collec' mah poun' o' flesh." He winks at you. "Ah migh' not hold to all the Consortium traditions, bu' this one's pure gold. So, whacha got for me?" ⬩⬩⬩ The price of entry into the Hungry Mollusk is one piece of information or, because Urchin loves a laugh, one REALLY good joke. Once you have paid the entry fee for a character (aka posted in this thread), you are free to RP on the Hungry Mollusk sub-board as many times as you want. |
